Paintless dent repair, or PDR, is a metalworking process that removes dents from the outside of a panel by accessing them from the backside. Using specialized steel rods, blending hammers, glue tabs and reflection lights, a certified technician gently massages the metal back to its original factory contour without disturbing the paint. Because there is no body filler, sanding, primer or repaint involved, your vehicle keeps its original finish, its factory corrosion protection and its long-term resale value. It is the preferred repair method for hail damage, door dings, shopping cart dents and other minor impacts where the paint is still intact.

PDR is faster, less expensive and far less invasive than conventional body work. A typical hail repair takes one to three days instead of the weeks a body shop often needs for teardown, filler, paint and reassembly. Because we do not repaint, you avoid color-mismatch issues, overspray, orange peel and future clear-coat failure. There is no risk of a Carfax report showing structural or paintwork history, which helps protect resale and lease-end value. No. In fact, PDR is one of the safest repair methods for your paint. Modern factory clear coats are flexible and designed to move with the metal. Our tools never cut, sand or chemically treat the finish, so the clear coat, base coat and any existing protective film remain untouched. The repair works with the paint rather than against it. In the rare case that paint is already cracked or the metal is torn, we will tell you upfront and recommend the right conventional repair path instead of pushing a fix that will not hold.

On typical hail damage and minor door dings — especially dents up to about baseball size with intact paint — the answer is yes. A skilled PDR technician can read the reflection board, release the tension in the metal and work the dent out until the panel looks factory again. Once the metal is properly relaxed back into its original shape, the dent does not reappear. Deeper damage, sharp creases or previously repaired areas may leave slight trace marks, but we set honest expectations during the initial assessment so you know what level of improvement to expect before any work begins.

Not every dent can be repaired with PDR. The best candidates have paint that is still intact, a panel that can be accessed from behind, and damage that is not too stretched or creased. Cracked or torn paint, torn metal, very sharp creases, dents on certain edges or panels with double-layer construction may need conventional repair.
